1987: Dr. John Hart founded Audio Tactile Network (ATN), a non-profit organization offering training programs for adults with visual impairments.
1988: ATN was incorporated as Audio Tactile Network.
1991: ATN obtained charitable status and also began to offer formal pre-employment training programs to adults with visual impairments.
1994: ATN's mandate was expanded to include persons with learning disabilities.
1995: ATN's name changed to Accommodation, Training & Networking for persons with disabilities and now serves adults with all types of disabilities, provided they cannot be better served elsewhere.
1997: ATN underwent a major expansion following a move to the Skill Centre.
1998: ATN became host to ETAC, an Employment Resource Centre for people with disablilities.
1999: ATN became host to Network to Learning, a program that assists adults, who suspect they have a learning disability, obtain a diagnosis and training.
2000: ATN opened the very specialized Alternative Access Community Computer Lab. This facility assists persons who have more involved physical, sensorial or learning disabilities, learn to use a variety of specialized access technologies.
2002: ATN became host to Links2Work, a community website for job seekers.
2003: ATN opened the Tanys Quesnel Living Learning Centre - a drop-in computer lab that provides opportunities for individuals to learn about assistive technology and explore the value of computers in their lives.
2005: ATN became host to LD Edge, an initiative to see London become the role model community for inclusion for the learning disabled.
2006: ATN was renamed to: ATN for Persons with Disabilities.
2007: Launch of Academ-e Online Classroom, ATN's Internet Learning Management System.
Our legal name was changed to ATN Access for Persons with Disabilities Inc. to better reflect the scope of our services. We will use the shortened version of ATN Access Inc. for our public face.
